Chandratal Lake is open only from June to mid-October.
Roads to Chandratal may be blocked due to weather—always have a buffer day.
Chandratal is at 4,300 meters (14,100 ft)—thin air and low oxygen levels.
Stay hydrated, avoid alcohol, and take it slow to prevent AMS (Altitude Mountain Sickness).
Camps at Chandratal are basic but clean, with warm bedding and common washrooms.
Electricity and phone network are not available near the lake.
Carry power banks and warm clothing (even in summer, it drops to 0–5°C at night).
The drive between Manali and Chandratal is bumpy, narrow, and offbeat.
Ideal for those who love adventure and raw Himalayan terrain—not luxury seekers.
Simple vegetarian meals are served during camping (dal, rice, veggies, tea).
Carry dry snacks, ORS, and water bottles for the road.
No mobile network at Chandratal or enroute from Batal.
